Stroudwater Promotes Two Consultants, Welcomes New Consultant, Accepts Patriot Award

July 15, 2019 – Portland, Maine – Stroudwater Associates, a leading national healthcare consulting firm with offices in Atlanta, Nashville, and Portland, Maine, announced today that two of its senior consultants, Opal H. Greenway and Jonathan Pantenburg, were promoted to principal. The firm also welcomed A. Zachary Boser in the role of consultant. Jeffrey Sommer, Stroudwater’s managing director, accepted the Patriot Award in recognition of the firm’s support of Lan Mai Nguyen, a Stroudwater consultant who recently received her commission as a second lieutenant in the US Army.

A. Zachary Boser joined the firm as a consultant. Before joining Stroudwater, Boser served as director of finance at Cuba Memorial Hospital, a 20-bed Critical Access Hospital in Cuba, NY, where he oversaw the implementation of two electronic health record systems and their integration at a health system level, supported affiliation processes with a larger health system that aligned financial and operational goals, and implemented an EHR for the skilled nursing facility to gain better optics on skilled nursing performance.

Boser earned a BS in Commerce with a specialization in Marketing and a Finance Minor from Niagara University and an MBA from Louisiana State University-Shreveport. He is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Opal H. Greenway was promoted to principal. Greenway joined Stroudwater in 2015 and is practice leader of the Physician-Hospital Alignment Advisory Group. She is an expert in provider practice operations, physician-hospital alignment structures, ambulatory planning, physician compensation, valuations, and regulatory compliance. Before Stroudwater, Greenway served as a consultant at CBIZ, where she collaborated with hospitals and healthcare systems to assess transactions, provided insight into Stark and anti-kickback regulations, and analyzed physician compensation structures.

Greenway earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alabama and her Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Alabama’s Manderson Graduate School of Business. She holds a BA in English with a concentration in law & society from Cornell University. Opal is a Certified Valuation Analyst accredited by the National Association of Credentialed Valuators and Analysts.

Jonathan Pantenburg, who joined Stroudwater in 2016, was promoted to principal. Pantenburg has more than 15 years of progressively responsible experience advising profit, non-profit, and governmental entities through complex issues including cost reduction, acquisitions, contracts, financial analysis, and operations. Before joining Stroudwater, Pantenburg served as chief financial officer and chief operating officer of Kahuku Medical Center, a 21-bed non-profit Critical Access Hospital on the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii.

Pantenburg holds a BA in history from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and a BBA with honors in accounting from the University of Phoenix. He earned a master’s in health administration from Ohio University.

Jeffrey Sommer, the firm’s managing director, accepted the Patriot Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense program. The award, which recognizes an individual, rather than an organization, allows an employee serving in the National Guard or Reserve to nominate individual supervisors for support provided directly to the service member and his or her family.

Lan Mai Nguyen, a consultant with Stroudwater, nominated Sommer for the award. Sommer was quick to point out that support for Nguyen was a full-firm endeavor. The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families and granting leaves of absence.

Nguyen joined the military to support her community and disaster relief efforts. Her family, which came to the United States as Vietnam War refugees, now boasts an entire generation of military personnel, including service with the Navy, Army and Air Force. Nguyen, who received her commission as a second lieutenant in the US Army at the US Army Maneuver Center of Excellence at Fort Benning, GA, is a battalion chemical officer in the Georgia National Guard.
