In this one-hour live webinar, Jonathan Pantenburg provides an overview of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, with an emphasis on the critical balance between protecting patient health information and sustaining operations as a healthcare entity. Jonathan reviews, at a high level, risk assessments, OCR audits, safeguarding PHI, breach protocol/penalties, the most common HIPAA violations, and covered entity/business associate agreements – while relaying how small and medium-sized healthcare practices can comply with HIPAA in the most effective and cost-efficient manner.

About the presenter:

Jonathan Pantenburg is a senior consultant with Stroudwater Associates, a leading national healthcare consulting firm serving healthcare clients exclusively. Jonathan serves as the firm’s security officer and has more than a dozen years’ experience advising profit, non-profit, and governmental entities through complex issues including cost reduction, acquisitions, contracts, financial analysis, and operations. As CFO and COO for Kahuku Medical Center, a critical-access hospital in Hawaii, Jonathan led the medical center as it received accreditation from The Joint Commission, and saw increased post-audit total margin and operating revenue. Jonathan also modified, maintained, and performed ongoing internal audits, expanded services to include primary care and computed tomography, and implemented fully integrated clinical EHR.

Jonathan holds a BA in history from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, a BBA in accounting from the University of Phoenix, and a master’s in health administration from Ohio University.
