John Downes brings over 25 years’ experience to clients in the healthcare facilities planning arena. John has led the development of demand-based market assessments, strategic plans, charrette facility master plans as well as functional and space programs for clinical service line expansions. Recently, John has also been working with real estate clients to identify and analyze markets to determine potential healthcare facility demand. Before joining Stroudwater Associates in 2009, John directed the consulting division of a Boston-based architectural firm that enjoys a national leadership position in the healthcare arena.

A nationally recognized speaker, John has served as a guest lecturer in the Brown University’s Master of Science in Healthcare Leadership program. He has also recently presented on linking strategy, finance, and facilities at Healthcare Design and at the ASHE Planning and Design Conference.

A graduate of Rutgers University, John earned a Master of Business Administration from Boston College. He is a LEED Accredited Professional and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development, and the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).
